Mouth Ulcers
Mouth ulcers are a common condition that can cause discomfort or pain. They usually appear as small, round or oval lesions with a whitish centre and a red border.
You might have mouth ulcers if you have:
Painful sores inside the mouth
Difficulty eating or speaking due to soreness
Sensitivity or irritation around the lips
- Minor injuries to the mouth, such as accidental bites
- Irritation from braces or dentures
- Certain foods or drinks, such as acidic fruits or spicy foods
- Stress or hormonal changes
- Pain or discomfort when eating, drinking, or speaking
- Sensitivity to hot, spicy, or acidic foods
- Difficulty brushing teeth or maintaining oral hygiene
- Apply a topical treatment like Bonjela to the ulcer
- Rinse mouth with saltwater solution to help reduce inflammation
- Avoid irritating foods or drinks that worsen ulcers
- Use a soft-bristled toothbrush, and toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulphate
