High blood pressure (hypertension) affects 1 in 3 adults in the UK. If left untreated it can cause heart problems, strokes and damage to vital organs. Therefore, it’s crucial to be aware of the risks and how you can reduce them. That’s where we can help, why not visit us and have one of our trained pharmacy staff members check your blood pressure for free.

If you have unused/expired prescription medicines or medicines that you bought over the counter, just bring them to the pharmacy for safe disposal. This is a free service available to the public. It is not safe to put unwanted/expired medicine in domestic bins. 

Any medicine you return to the pharmacy cannot be used by the pharmacy again. It’s very important that you don’t stockpile medication at home and only request medication that you need. It is also dangerous as there is a possibility of mixing your new medicines with your old ones and it is a safety risk to children and others who might take them. Every year over £300 million of NHS money is wasted by unused prescription medicines.

 It is very important that you return unwanted medicines to a local pharmacy for safe disposal.

Contraceptive advice including the morning after pill.
This service is for confidential advice and for the provision of Emergency Hormonal Contraception.

The morning-after pill (an Emergency Hormonal Contraceptive pill), can be taken to follow unprotected sex to avoid pregnancy. It's recommended to take it as soon as possible after the sexual intercourse. 
There are two drugs available in the UK without a prescription that are used as EHC. Levonelle one-step (no longer than 72 hours after unprotected sex) and EllaOne (no longer than 120 hours of unprotected sex) to prevent pregnancy, only for occasional emergency use when another form of contraceptives was not used or failed.

The pharmacist will advise you as to which contraceptive pill is suitable for you during a consultation. 

Please speak to a member of staff who will get you to fill in a short questionnaire. If it is suitable, we will supply the EHC or refer you to another service.

Seasonal Influenza (Flu) vaccination is available every year to help protect both adults and children at risk of flu and its complications.

Why get a flu jab?

Flu is a contagious viral disease that can spread by coughing, sneezing or touching contaminated surfaces or people. Stay healthy and protect your friends, family and work colleagues by getting vaccinated. Our pharmacist will carry out a consultation to ensure that the flu jab is safe and appropriate for you. You may ask any questions that you might have about flu vaccinations during this consultation.

Free NHS flu jabs

Flu can be serious in some patient groups as it can lead to further complications. The NHS free flu jab service provides free flu vaccination to these specific patient groups. 
Our pharmacists will check your eligibility for the free flu vaccination during your consultation.

Our pharmacy also offers a private flu vaccination service.

Medicine use reviews are a part of the Advanced Services of the community pharmacy contract. This will involve the pharmacist conducting a structured review with the patient about their medicine use. The aims of this service are to improve patients’ knowledge, concordance and use of medicines.

Prescription Delivery service is available free of charge only for housebound or disabled patients. Please contact our pharmacy to organise the delivery of your medication.

All other patients can request a delivery of medication for a small delivery charge of £3.50, or £55 per year, if you get them regularly.

The delivery days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

The New Medicine Service (NMS) is a free NHS service that provides support for people with long-term conditions that are prescribed a new medicine.
The aim is to improve patient adherence to treatment and to reduce medicine wastage and hospital admissions from adverse drug reaction by identifying them in the early stages of the treatment. 

When you are started on a new medicine for Antiplatelet/Anticoagulant therapy, Asthma/COPD, Hypertension or Diabetes, our pharmacist will provide you with some general information about your new medication and will arrange with you a phone call in 2 weeks time to ask you about how you got on with your medication, explore any issues and provide relevant advice and support. Final call in 1-2 weeks to ensure that you aren't having any adverse effects.

How does it work?

As a patient, you can book an appointment online or walk in to see a private GP using the Medicspot Clinical Station in the pharmacy consultation room. You will be asked to pay a consulting fee before the appointment.
Have a video consultation and be remotely examined by one of the expert doctors from Medicspot.
If you need a medication, the doctor will send your private prescription to the pharmacy electronically, ready for you to collect in minutes.

The conditions that are covered and the eligible patients can access free advice and treatment for includes (but is not limited to): Urinary Tract Infection - for women age 16 to under 65 years), Impetigo and Infected nappy rash.

Supervised consumption is an NHS service which is used in certain conditions to ensure that patients take their medication at regular intervals such as in substance dependence. The prescriber writes the supervised consumption instructions on the prescription. The service is funded by the NHS, it’s free for the patient.

We offer a user-friendly, non-judgmental, client-centred and confidential service. We provide support and advice to the patient, including referral to primary care or specialist centres where appropriate. The service is carried out in a private consultation room.
