Why book here for acne treatment?
Acne is really common in teenagers and people in their early 20s – in fact, 8 in 10 teenagers have acne. Sebum – a greasy substance that lubricates your skin – is produced by glands in your hair follicles. These can get blocked, inflamed and infected.
The treatments you can get with this service are usually only available with a prescription, and may be effective if other treatments have not worked.
What am I booking?
This is a private (paid for) service from your Pharmacist for treatment for acne which is not severe but has not responded to treatment with benzoyl peroxide used for at least six weeks.
How much will it cost?
The price you will be quoted is for your consultation and a 30 g tube of cream, which should treat your whole face for one month. 



Altitude sickness (also known as AMS) is a condition that occurs at high altitudes from 2500 metres (8200 ft) above sea level, where the body has difficulty adjusting to lower oxygen pressure and symptoms such as headaches and dizziness result.

The price you’ll be quoted is the starting price for your consultation and for a course of 10 tablets. Please note that the cost of treatment may vary, dependent on how many tablets you and your Pharmacist decide you need.

Why book here for a repeat salbutamol inhaler supply?

‘Reliever’ inhalers such as salbutamol can be used to treat symptoms like wheeze and shortness of breath due to asthma. If you have been prescribed salbutamol for asthma and need a supply to tide you over until you see your doctor, your Pharmacist may be able to provide one through this service.

This is a private (paid for) service from your Pharmacist for a replacement supply of a salbutamol inhaler to relieve symptoms of asthma.

How much will it cost?
The price you’ll be quoted is the starting price for your consultation and for one salbutamol inhaler.


Athlete’s foot is common – and not just in athletes. The warm, sweaty environment inside your shoes is a perfect breeding ground for fungi. Although it’s rarely serious, athlete’s foot can be very uncomfortable.
Antifungal cream is often enough to settle the infection. However, if you are suffering from significant inflammation and irritation, a combination antifungal and steroid cream may soothe your symptoms more quickly.

This is a private (paid for) service from your Pharmacist for a course of treatment with a combination of antifungal ingredient (to treat fungal infection) and steroid (to reduce inflammation).

The price you will be quoted is for your consultation and a 30 g tube of cream to be used for up to seven days.

The chickenpox (varicella) vaccine is a series of two shots that can protect nearly everyone from contracting chickenpox. The first should be given at the age of 12-18 months and the second shot should be given between 4-6 years of age. Older children and adults should have two shots as well, with the second shot occurring at least 28 days after the first.

Most children catch chickenpox, and most will recover with no lasting ill effects. However, chickenpox can be a very unpleasant condition and can sometimes cause serious complications.
This vaccine offers good protection against chickenpox – it is not offered on the NHS.

This is a private (paid for) service from your Pharmacist for one dose of chickenpox vaccine - for full protection you will need two doses.
How much will it cost?
The price you will be quoted is for your consultation and one dose of vaccine – for full protection you will need two doses, four to eight weeks apart (your Pharmacist will advise when the second dose is due).


The only way to find out if you have Chlamydia is to get tested. The recommended tests are simple, painless and very reliable. Treatment also available.

This vaccination needs to be taken on an empty stomach – you need to avoid food, drink and other oral medication 1 hour before and 1 hour after your appointment.
Why book here for cholera vaccination?
Cholera is caused by a germ (bacterium) and causes diarrhoea and vomiting. This can be quite mild, but in some cases is very severe and can lead to dehydration or even death. Cholera vaccination protects against cholera.
This is a private (paid for) service from your Pharmacist for a course of sachets to be dissolved in water to protect you against cholera.

If you have been taking the same oral contraceptive pill for at least a year and want a repeat prescription, you can buy it through this service.
The types of contraceptive pills available with this service are:

Progestogen-only pills (sometimes called the ‘mini pill’) for women aged 18-49 years.
Combined oral contraceptive pills (sometimes called ‘the pill’) for women aged 16-49 years (18-49 for Qlaira and Zoely). If you are aged under 18, this service must be booked for you by your parent or guardian.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are very common. They can be painful and uncomfortable but they usually pass within a few days or can be easily treated with a course of antibiotics.

This service from your Pharmacist is a private (paid for) service for antibiotic treatment for women aged 18-64 years who have three or more symptoms of cystitis above.
Please bring a fresh urine sample in a small sterile container – your Pharmacist may need to check this to see if you have an infection, or ask you to do a home urine test, before deciding if treatment is appropriate.

Why book cystitis treatment?
Cystitis means inflammation of the bladder – it is usually caused by an infection in the urine. Symptoms include:

Burning or stinging when you pass water.
Needing to pass water more often.
Needing to get up at night or rush to the loo.
Passing more water than usual.
Tenderness in your lower tummy, above your pubic bone.
Cloudy looking urine.

Contraceptive advice including the morning after pill.

If you have unprotected (vaginal) sex and have not gone through the menopause, you are at risk of becoming pregnant. Emergency contraception is a form of contraception used after you have already had sex. It is sometimes called ‘the morning after pill’. Emergency contraception is not as effective as most regular forms of contraception, but it does reduce your chance of unplanned pregnancy.

If you have had unprotected sex within the last three days, your Pharmacist may be able to provide you with levonorgestrel for emergency contraception. If you had unprotected sex three to five days ago, levonorgestrel is not suitable but ulipristal is. Some pharmacists can provide ulipristal.
