High blood pressure (hypertension) affects 1 in 3 adults in the UK. If left untreated it can cause heart problems, strokes and damage to vital organs. Therefore, it’s crucial to be aware of the risks and how you can reduce them. That’s where we can help, why not visit us and have one of our trained pharmacy staff members check your blood pressure for free.

Here at Longsters, we provide a blood pressure testing service either for free (if your GP has asked for it or if you are over 40 and taking no medicine for blood pressure) or for a charge of £5. The pharmacist will take your blood pressure and offer any advice depending on the results of the test. These results can also be sent to your GP and added to your patient records too.

Contraceptive advice including the morning after pill.
This service is for confidential advice and for the provision of Emergency Hormonal Contraception.

Emergency contraception can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if the contraception you have used has failed – for example, a condom has split or you have missed a pill. Our pharmacist if fully trained and can supply the "morning after pill" after a consultation up to five days after unprotected sex.

Seasonal Influenza (Flu) vaccination is available every year to help protect both adults and children at risk of flu and its complications.

The Flu vaccination is available every year on the NHS to help protect adults and children at risk of flu and its complications. Flu can be unpleasant and more severe in certain people so make sure you are vaccinated as soon as the flu season starts.

We offer the NHS 111 community pharmacy consultation service, whereby 111 may refer you to our pharmacy for health advice and treatment for a range of conditions.

If you're prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time, you may be able to get extra help and advice about your medicine from our pharmacist through a free scheme called the New Medicine Service (NMS).
People often have problems when they start a new medicine. As part of the scheme, our pharmacist will support you over several weeks to use the medicine safely and to best effect. Our pharmacist can assit you to see if you are eligable for the service.

Providing support for patients diagnosed with a long term condition who have a newly prescribed medicine. To help improve your adherence and your understanding of the medicine generally leading to better health outcomes.

If you are prescribed certain new medicines then the pharmacist will ring you on week 2 and week 4 to see if you are getting on OK with the medication and if you need any advice.

Pharmacy First is an NHS service that encourages patients to visit their local pharmacy first instead of going to their GP for a range of conditions which can be assessed and treated by pharmacists.

The conditions that are covered and the eligible patients can access free advice and treatment for includes (but is not limited to): Urinary Tract Infection - for women age 16 to under 65 years), Impetigo and Infected nappy rash.
