The NHS Common Ailments Service means that you can come to us for free advice and treatment (instead of booking a GP appointment) for 26 of the following common ailments:\n- Acne\n- Athlete's foot\n- Backache (acute)\n- Chicken pox\n- Cold sores\n- Colic\n- Conjunctivitis (bacterial)\n- Constipation \n- Dermatitis (dry skin)\n- Diarrhoea\n- Dry eye\n- Haemorrhoids\n- Hay fever\n- Head lice\n- Indigestion\n- Ingrowing toe nail\n- Mouth ulcers\n- Nappy rash\n- Oral thrush\n- Ringworm\n- Scabies\n- Sore throat\n*This service is funded by NHS Wales.  Please note that for some of these conditions you will be provided with advice rather than a medical treatment

The common ailments service offers patients access to free NHS advice and treatment for common ailments that cannot be managed by self care. The service offers an alternative to making an appointment with the GP to discuss the following 26 conditions.

Sometimes our pharmacists may need to refer you to your GP or another healthcare professional if they are unable to treat your condition.

This is a private (paid for) service from your Pharmacist for a 30-day supply of treatment for hay fever.

As part of the NHS Wales Common Ailments service our Pharmacists can provide FREE hayfever treatment without the need for you to obtain a prescription from your GP.

Our pharmacists can provide tablets, nasal sprays and eye drops to help with your hayfever symptoms and advice on self care methods to help you manage your condition.

Our private Period Delay service is available for patients aged 18-50 and can help you stop getting your period when you don't want it - when you go on holiday or have to travel, for example. 

Period delay tablets are taken tablet three times a day. For the tablets to work you need to start taking them three days before your period is due to start. They'll delay your period for three days after you take the last tablet.

Please be aware that Period Delay tablets (Norethisterone) are not suitable if patients are using any form of Hormonal Contraception (eg Tablets, Patches, Implants or Injections)

They are only for short term use, do not act as a contraceptive and should not be used to prevent pregnancy.

30 tablets (up to 7 days delay) cost £15

60 tablets (up to 17 days delay) cost £25

When you have a sore throat it can be uncomfortable to eat, drink and talk. That's why it's important to get the best medicine and advice to feel back to normal. During our sore throat service our expert Pharmacists will ask you a series of questions and examine your throat to determine the possible cause of your pain.

The sore throat test and treat service allows patients who have a sore throat to access NHS advice and treatment from the pharmacy.

Our trained pharmacists will assess your symptoms. The pharmacist will ask you some questions to decide if you need a throat swab and will complete a clinical assessment. 

Not everyone will need a throat swab and if your answers suggest it is a viral infection, a swab may not be necessary.

Following the consultation and assessment by the pharmacist, medication may be supplied, including antibiotics (without the need for you to see your GP) if the throat swab test results indicates these are required.

We offer FREE advice and treatment (where necessary) for Urinary Tract Infection in women aged between 18 and 64. 

Symptoms of a UTI include burning pain when urinating, needing to urinate more often and cloudy urine. UTIs, if left untreated, can result in worsening infection.

If you have severe symptoms, have signs of a kidney infection (such as back pain) or if you feel unwell (such as a high temperature or flu-like symptoms), we recommend you speak to your GP. We also recommend you see your GP if your only symptom is visible blood in your urine, or if you've had two or more UTIs in the  last six months or three or more in the last 12 months.

A urine sample is required, if you do not have a sample bottle call in to the pharmacy first and we can provide one.

Contraceptive advice including the morning after pill.
This service is for confidential advice and for the provision of Emergency Hormonal Contraception.

If you’ve had unprotected sex, or your usual method of contraception has failed, you might be worried about becoming pregnant. 

One of the options available to you may be Emergency Contraception, which works by preventing or delaying ovulation. 

Our confidential FREE NHS Wales Emergency Contraception Service, providing medication and advice from our Pharmacists in our PRIVATE consultation rooms, can help.

There are two types of pills that are available FREE of charge from the NHS to ensure access to emergency contraceptive pills for everyone when it is needed.

EllaOne and levonorgestrel are available as part of the NHS emergency contraception scheme. Our pharmacists will help you to decide which is best for you.
