The chickenpox (varicella) vaccine is a series of two shots that can protect nearly everyone from contracting chickenpox. The first should be given at the age of 12-18 months and the second shot should be given between 4-6 years of age. Older children and adults should have two shots as well, with the second shot occurring at least 28 days after the first.

The chickenpox vaccine helps prevent chickenpox.

Although chickenpox is usually mild, it can be very serious for some people, it can also prevent children losing valuable school time to illness.

Adults who have never had the vaccine or have not been infected with chickenpox in the past are encouraged to vaccinate as they are more likely to contract severe complications from the chickenpox virus.

The pharmacist will provide a vaccination schedule for your follow-up booster when you book with us.
