Shingles - vaccination

We offer both live Shingles vaccine (Zostavax) and non-live (Shingrix) vaccine to adults 50 years and over for the prevention of shingles infection and post-herpetic neuralgia. In a large study of 15,411 participants, Shingrix efficacy in the 7,695 immunocompetent adults ≥ 50 years and 6,950 ≥70 years, was estimated at 97.2% and 91.2% respectively. In a large study of more than 38,000 adults over the age of 60 years, Zostavax was found to reduces the risk of shingles by 51% and the risk of post herpetic neuralgia by 67%. In those over 70 years of age, the reduction in risk was 38% and 66.8% respectively. Shingrix requires two doses with a minimum of 2 months apart. We charge a competitive £210 per dose, or £400 if paid up-front. Zostavax is a single dose at a competitive price of £165.
