Beclometasone nasal sprays are often used to treat cold-like symptoms like runny or congested nose, caused by allergic or nonallergic rhinitis.

They work by calming the body’s natural immune reaction, to reduce swelling and inflammation.

These sprays are available as an over-the-counter medicine from your local pharmacy, under the brand names Beconase, Nasobec and Pollenase.

Conditions that Beclometasone Nasal Sprays Are Used to Treat

Beclometasone nasal sprays can be used to treat conditions, such as:

  • Allergic Rhinitis: beclometasone is a corticosteroid medication that reduces the nasal inflammation caused by the body’s immune response to allergens like pollen, pet dander and dust.

  • Nonallergic Rhinitis: Nasal sprays are often used to treat rhinitis not caused by an allergic reaction, due to their ability to reduce inflammation in the nose and open up the nasal passage.

  • Nasal Polyps: Beclometasone sprays can help to reduce the size of soft growths in the nasal passage, preventing them from regrowing.

How Long Does it Take to Work?

Though people often feel some immediate short-term relief with beclametasone sprays, it typically takes a few days for the medicine to start working on improving your symptoms. It can take up to two weeks for you to feel the full effects on the medication.
