Mirtazapine is an antidepressant, available by prescription in the UK. It is primarily used to treat mental health conditions, such as depression, OCD and anxiety. It works by increasing levels of mood-enhancing chemicals in your brain, like serotonin and noradrenaline.

How Long Does Mirtazapine Take to Work?

Mirtazapine typically takes between 4-6 weeks to have a noticeable impact on your mental health.

How Long Before Bed Should I Take Mirtazapine?

If you’ve been prescribed mirtazapine to help with your sleep, as well as your depression – you’re likely wondering when you should take your medication.

As the medication is likely to make you feel sleepy, it’s recommended that you take it around an hour before you go to bed, so that you’re in the right environment for a good night’s sleep.
