Wegovy (Semaglutide)

Wegovy is a self-injectable pen which you usually take weekly. It contains Semaglutide which makes you feel fuller for longer and reduces your cravings.

You can order Wegovy through Healthera Clinic, using our app – without the need to visit your GP.

Mounjaro is a prescription injectable medicine used to help with weight loss.

Wegovy works by mimicking the action of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). This helps your body regulate your appetite, feel fuller for longer and reduce cravings.

Wegovy is a self-injectable medicine which you’ll take once per week.

You don’t have to take it with a meal, but you should always aim to take your medicine at the same time each week.

Each Wegovy pen contains four doses, meaning you can use it up to four times.

You should never use the same needle more than once (each Wegovy pen comes with four).

Wegovy is available in six doses (0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg). You’ll should work up to 2.4mg from your initial injection, increasing your dose every four weeks.

You’ll continue on a dose of 2.4mg once you’ve reached it for the remainder of your weight loss.

Our UK-based clinicians review each order to make sure its safe. We’ll let you know if we think you should be on a different dose and you won’t be charged until your medicine is on its way to you.

Everyone’s experience with Wegovy may be different. However, common side effects can include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Stomach pain
  • Headache
  • Tiredness
  • Upset stomach
  • Dizziness
  • Belching
  • Feeling bloated
  • Low blood sugar
  • Gas
  • Stomach flu
  • Heartburn
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat

You should talk to your doctor if you have side effects that bother you or do not go away. In the event of an emergency, call 999.

In trials, Wegovy was used to achieve an average 16% decrease in body weight after 15 months.

You shouldn’t take Mounjaro if you’ve had Thyroid cancer or your family has a history of Thyroid cancer or Pancreatitis – or if you have multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome II.

You also should not take medicine which contains one or more ingredients to which you have an allergy.

You should not take Wegovy if you’re pregnant (or planning a pregnancy) or use it with children.

Wegovy is considered safe for its approved uses.

As with all medication, you must always follow directions for how to use it.

If you miss a dose of Wegovy, here’s what you’ll need to do.

If it’s been less than 5 days since your last dose, you should inject as soon as possible and continue with your normal routine.

If it’s been more than 5 days since your last dose, you should not take the missed dose and inject again on your next scheduled day.

If you take an extra dose after 5 days, the medicine will not “make up” for the missing one – and it may increase your likelihood of side effects, like vomiting and nausea.

Wegovy doesn’t stop you from eating any foods (unless you’re allergic or intolerant).

However, Wegovy works best when paired with lifestyle changes, which may include improving your diet. You may want to reduce your intake of:

  • Foods that are high in saturated fat
  • Full-fat dairy
  • Processed meat
  • Fried foods
  • Fast food
