Stye

Styes are a common eye condition that can cause discomfort, swelling, and redness near the eyelid.

They can also be filled with yellow pus. 

You might have a stye if you have:

Swelling, tenderness, or redness near the eyelid
Sensitivity to light or blurred vision
A feeling of a foreign body in the eye
  • Bacterial infection of the eyelash follicles or oil glands
  • Poor eyelid hygiene or touching the eyes with unwashed hands
  • Blockage of oil glands due to makeup or debris
  • Use of expired or contaminated eye products
  • Painful swelling or bump on the eyelid
  • Tearing or watering of the affected eye
  • Sensitivity to light (photophobia)
  • Crusting along the eyelid margin
  • Apply warm compresses to the affected eyelid several times a day
  • Avoid squeezing or rubbing the stye
  • Keep the eyelids clean with mild soap and water
  • Avoid using eye makeup or contact lenses until the stye resolves
