Introducing Healthera Orbit: Machine learning-powered automation platform eliminates manual prescription notifications across 1,700+ UK pharmacies
What is Healthera Orbit?
Healthera is launching full prescription tracking automation this week, eliminating the need for pharmacies to manually update prescription statuses or notify patients when prescriptions are ready for collection.
For the first time, pharmacies can offer fully-automated prescription tracking without any manual work – patients receive timing-optimised notifications automatically, while pharmacy teams reclaim hours previously spent on patient calls and status updates.
Powered by full NHS EPS integration and Healthera Orbit – our proprietary machine learning platform – this feature is available to all Healthera Pro pharmacies in England at no additional cost.
Machine Learning Meets NHS Infrastructure
The breakthrough comes from combining comprehensive NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) integration with Healthera Orbit, our new machine learning-powered automation platform making its debut with this launch.
Orbit uses machine learning models trained on a decade of prescription lifecycle data across Healthera’s network of 1,700+ pharmacies processing over 8 million prescriptions annually. Combining accurate statuses retrieved directly from the EPS, the model learns each pharmacy’s unique dispensing patterns – enabling optimised prescription notifications to be sent to patients, ensuring the best patient experience possible.
Orbit’s machine learning approach recognises that pharmacy operations vary significantly. A high-street pharmacy in Central London operates differently from a rural community pharmacy in Cornwall. Orbit learns these differences and optimises accordingly.
Unlike platforms requiring individual pharmacy management system (PMR) integrations – which are restricted by supplier compatibility and cannot adapt to each pharmacy’s unique operational patterns – Orbit connects directly to NHS EPS infrastructure. This enables nationwide availability from day one, with full prescription status visibility and better performance, at no additional cost to pharmacies.
Early results already show >95% automation of prescription notifications with 40% reduction in unnecessary phone calls or in-app messages.
Available Now for Healthera Pro Partners
Healthera Orbit launches this week as part of the Healthera Pro plan, accessible to over 90% of Healthera’s pharmacy partners. Pharmacies can enable the feature through their Healthera Connect dashboard, with machine learning-powered automation beginning immediately for eligible collection orders.
We've spent years building the operational dataset that makes pharmacy-specific machine learning viable. Our R&D team built Orbit to be both accurate and transparent - pharmacies maintain full control, and their overrides actually improve the model over time. This is just the beginning. Time-saving directly impacts pharmacy profitability, and Orbit delivers that at scale. We're rolling this out nation-wide, with additional ML capabilities for patient engagement, clinical services, and operations coming throughout 2026.
