Warts
Warts are a common skin condition caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They appear as small, rough growths on the skin and can vary in appearance depending on the type of wart.
You might have warts if you have:
Small, rough growths on the skin
Itching or discomfort in the affected area
Growths spreading to other areas
- Touching someone’s warts
- Touching surfaces with the virus
- Spreading warts from one part of the body to another
- Weakened immune system
- Raised bumps on the skin
- Rough or grainy texture
- Flesh-coloured, white, pink, or tan in appearance
- Can appear singularly or in clusters
- Sometimes accompanied by pain or itching
- Apply over-the-counter wart treatments containing salicylic acid
- Keep the affected area clean and dry
- Avoid picking or scratching the warts
- Avoid touching the wart to prevent it spreading
